Story
In December 2020 Northants 4x4 Response was involved in multiple flooding incidents, and over 120 individuals, pets, belongings & Christmas presents were saved from flooding. At the time just a few of our team were trained in responding and supporting flooding incidents. The team worked around the clock to support our county's emergency services. The water was freezing as temperatures dropped to below zero and the water temperature was just 4 degrees (about the same as your fridge!).
This year, the first 12 volunteers have been trained to DEFRA Level 2 Flood First Responder level, with 10 more waiting for the next course.
Each of our responders needs the right PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to keep them safe, warm and dry, and to be able to operate in the water. This includes: dry suits, personal flotation devices (buoyancy aids), throw lines and helmets, to name a few of the essentials.
With your help we can ensure we are able to respond effectively to the next flooding incident, wherever in the county it might occur, and we thank you for any help you can offer.
The next person we help could be you.
