One of our cafe staff, Linda Young, is going to the top of the world - well, Britain anyway - to raise money for the Heritage Centre
Linda is climbing Britain's highest peak, Ben Nevis in Scotland, at the beginning of August. The former PE teacher, farmer's wife and foster carer will complete the full set of mainland Britain's highest peaks, having already conquered Snowdon in Wales and Scafell Pike in the Lake District.
'It's going to take around 8 hours', says Linda, who has lived in Scotland and the Lake District but now lives in The Boltons in Lyndhurst, right next to the Heritage Centre. 'I'm going with a group and we've got a guide. My training for this adventure is going to be walking up and down the stairs of The Boltons for hours on end!!
'I like keeping active and meeting people, which is why I work in the Heritage Centre cafe once a week. The Centre is an independent charity that receives no regular funding from the District Council or the National Park Authority, so we earn income through the cafe and shop and are always looking for donations and other ways to raise money.
'If people would like to sponsor me, that would be terrific. There's a dedicated collection box on the cafe counter or please use JustGiving.'
