Story

Join a national outpouring of love to raise money for your NHS heroes

Bradford Hospitals Charity is urging people across Bradford to join the nations biggest tea break on 5 July and help raise money for the incredible people in our NHS whove done so much to help everyone get through the pandemic.

Following a year like no other, Bradford Hospitals Charity wants as many people as possible to get involved in a national outpouring of love and thanks for NHS staff and volunteers on its birthday by hosting or taking part in an NHS Big Tea at 3pm on 5 July.

Each event can be in person or virtual, with the community, friends, family or at work, and is a chance to reflect and say thank you for everything that NHS staff and volunteers have done and continue to do, by taking part in the nations biggest tea break to raise money for Bradford Hospitals Charity.

People can host their own event or they can show their support by taking 5 minutes to enjoy a tea break and donate.

Hayley Collis, Head of Fundraising for Bradford Hospitals Charity, said: Our NHS staff here in Bradford have had an incredibly tough year. They continued to care for patients through the darkest of days and the longest of nights throughout the pandemic.

The war on Covid has taken its toll on all our staff and so, as the NHS charity which works in partnership with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we have stepped up to support our staff in any way we can.

Funds we raised so far have paid for staff wellbeing areas and items. It has also funded medical equipment which has enabled clinicians to diagnose and treat patients quicker and more efficiently, and technology to ensure patients could keep in touch with their loved ones during lockdown.

All money raised during the NHS Big Tea will fund items, equipment and projects which are over and above what the NHS provides. The money will be used to support our patients and our amazing NHS staff.

Thousands are expected to host across the UK. If you would like to take part, you can register your interest and download an event pack at

Staff at Bradford Teaching Hospitals will also be encouraged to take a break at 3pm on 5 July, where possible, and given help and advice on wellbeing. Tea and biscuits will also be provided on the day!
