Story

This year, to mark our 30th Anniversary, we want to make the National Tapathon extra special. We are inviting people across the country to come together and learn a routine inspired by Roy Castle's record breaking performance outside the BBC studio and perform from the comfort of their own home on Sunday 24th May.

Because of events such as the National Tapathon, over the past 30 years together we have:

Funded over £30 million in lung cancer research

Lay the groundwork for lung cancer screening

Funded the first ever lung cancer nurse specialist

Performed the first ever lung cancer keyhole surgery

Helped thousands of people to stop smoking

Funded and built the first lung cancer centre in the UK

Campaigned for life-lengthening treatments

Raised awareness of lung cancer, challenged the misconceptions around the disease and improved attitudes

Provided emotional, practical and financial support for thousands and thousands of people diagnosed and living with lung cancer.

But there is still so much more to do and, as the current situation proves, the need for our charity is imperative. People with lung cancer are at the highest risk of serious illness if they contract COVID-19. In addition to this, many are faced with the very realistic prospect that their treatment may be postponed. This is understandably creating high levels of anxiety and worry.

As a result, calls to our Ask the nurse service have increased by 56% whilst our latest service our Keep in Touch Support Service is ensuring the most socially isolated are not overlooked or forgotten.

People with lung cancer need us more than ever but, in order to give that, we need support too.

About the charity

We are the only UK lung cancer charity dedicated to helping everyone affected by the disease. We fund essential research and provide much needed support, information and advice. We raise awareness and challenge the misconceptions of lung cancer. We do all this so those affected can expect better.
