Opus 18 is a group of people who come and sing together every week for an uplifting evening of fun and song with a real community feel. The choir started off in September 2011 with about 30 members, meeting in a classroom of a local school and has steadily grown over the years to around 100 members.
The social, physical and emotional benefits of singing in a group are tremendous and many firm and long-standing friendships have been made. We believe that everyone has a voice and in Opus 18 everyone is welcome and everyone is valued. We love singing a wide range of styles from world music and African harmonies to light classics, songs from stage and screen to folk songs and classic pop. There is something for everyone!
At Christmas time and in the summer we give major concerts and over the years we have raised around £20,000 for local charities.
