Story

Oscar Stuart William is aged 5 from West Calder in West Lothian. He came into this world long before he was due. As a result of this he suffered from brain damage called Peri ventricular leukomalacia. This evolved into cerebral palsy affecting all four limbs, his speech, even his digestion.

This diagnosis shook our whole family to the core, but we are a resilient bunch who will do everything in our power in order to let him lead the best quality of life possible.

Selective dorsal rhizotomy is the operation we are advised is suitable for Oscar. It is a surgery commonly practised worldwide, though unfortunately the criteria in Scotland is strict so it must be privately funded. This surgery is a well-established surgical procedure for improving lower-extremity spasticity in children with cerebral palsy and hopefully will enable Oscar to lead a more normal fuller life.

Oscar is the most happy little boy! He has the most charismatic smile and cheeky personality!

Despite his tough start in life he does not let cerebral palsy defeat him, and we hope with your help we will be able to achieve this goal.

No child should live in pain.
