Story

Greater Manchester Youth Federation have taken over the Partington Centre on Moss Lane, Partington and have already raised and invested a considerable amount into making the centre habitable again and now we need to make it functional and welcoming as a Youth and Community Centre.

Last year we conducted a survey amongst the young people of Partington, asking what they wanted from a Youth and Community Centre. Sport and Arts activities were high up on their list but also up there was somewhere they could go to feel safe, 'to chill', and to make friends. We would love to kit out one of the rooms in the centre to create a youth chill out zone. The aim is for a homely vibe with a nice kitchen diner, where children will feel comfortable, where they can grab something to eat and take time to relax and chat to each other.

To do this we need sofas, tables, chairs, side tables, lamps, a rug, a tv and a functioning kitchen: fridge, toasters, toasty makers, microwaves/ninja cookers, mugs, crockery, utensils etc. and we have set up a Just Giving page to help their wish become a reality.

About the charity

We have been providing vital youth services to young people for over 110 years, working with volunteer led youth clubs across some of the most marginalised communities of Greater Manchester, we offer a programme of positive activities, training, and guidance to our member clubs. We introduce young people to new activities and experiences that they might otherwise be unable to access, helping them to build confidence and self-esteem.
