It's 2021, but unfortunately there's still people in our local area - Devon & Cornwall - who are struggling to buy food. Meanwhile, thousands of tonnes of perfectly good food is thrown away. At DCFA, we're here to fix this problem.
We strongly believe in feeding bellies not bins.
We collect surplus food from local supermarkets, manufacturers and wholesalers, and bring it back to our Food Hub in Plymouth where our volunteers sort through the food and pack into our food boxes. Our fleet of vans deliver these food boxes across the area to people with low incomes or in need.
Our Pay it Forward appeal is to help fund our boxes for people in crisis. If someone is in a crisis situation, where they are unable to pay our £10 charity fee, we will use your generous donations to fund a food box for someone in need.
For every £10 we raise someone in crisis will receive a food box thanks to your generous donations.
In 2020, we delivered over 8,000 food boxes to people in need throughout Devon & Cornwall. With furlough coming to an end, and more businesses buckling under the financial pressures of the pandemic, we have no doubt that more people will need us this year than ever before. We're ready to help, we just need some help to fund this service and reach more people.
