Founded in 1970, The Mount Camphill Community is a specialist residential and day college in Wadhurst, East Sussex offering a craft-based education for students aged 16-25, as well as a pioneering cohousing supported-living community for people with and without additional needs.

Story

Following so many amazing donations and wonderful offers of help, The Mount has been able to extend and refurbish Pond House to create a fabulous home accommodating six of our cohousing supported living members, some co-worker coordinators and two volunteers who will move in during October 2022. Our original fundraising ask for the project only covered some of the functional and necessary aspects of the landscaping, so we are launching this new appeal to raise a further £75,000 for additional landscaping so that we can create a beautiful outdoor surrounding space to complement the wonderfully refurbished interior. Above are some photos of the site and landscaping plans showing what we hope to achieve.

Cohousing is a pioneering new model of provision offering supported, independent and community living for adults with learning disabilities. As part of our strategy to extend our cohousing provision, The Mount purchased Pond House, a large family home in the heart of Wadhurst village, to create a new, more independent home for supported cohousers choosing to live outside our main site but within walking distance for it.

We very much hope you can support this appeal. All donations, however large or small, will be invaluable in helping us to achieve this further goal so that our plans can become a reality.
