Story
The Coronavirus pandemic is challenging for everyone, and Positive Steps remain dedicated to supporting the individuals who need us most through these uncertain times. In light of social distancing rules, the way that many services are delivered has needed to change. This can be particularly difficult for individuals who dont have access to the technology upon which the world is now increasing relying.
My worker is in contact with me daily every day and Im so grateful for this during this crisis. She has managed to communicate with my drug worker and she has managed to get my scrip weekly instead daily as I was feeling very vulnerable going to chemist daily standing in queues. I was also referred to the food train to get shopping delivered on a weekly basis as I had had a letter from the Scottish government stating that I have to stringent social distancing for at least 12 weeks due to my health issues. If it wasnt for my support from Positive Steps there is no way I would have coped in this situation and wouldn't have known what to do.
In order to ensure that everyone can stay connected and access the support they need, we are raising funds to purchase basic mobile phones for service users who do not currently have access to them.
I have been finding the social isolating difficult and not having regular face to face visit. But if it wasnt for my regular phone calls from my worker I would find it hard and feel lonely. I feel a lot better after talking to my worker on the phone and I look forward to my calls.
We are appealing to our supporters to help us with this. Any amounts that you are able to give will make a huge difference to vulnerable and isolated individuals in Dundee. If you are unable to give at this time, you can still help us by sharing this appeal.
Thank you for your support.
