Story

We're excited to be launching a new and fun-filled corporate campaign for 2020 - Power a Playworker - and we;d love for you and your workplace or business to get involved!

Between 2nd -27th November, we'll be helping our wonderful corporate and Business Club supporters to raise a collective goal of £20k to fund the work of our amazing Play Centre Deputy, Frankie, for a whole year.

Who is Frankie?

Frankie is a much-loved member of Team Orange and has been a playworker Challengers for 9 years. She has biggest heart (and smile) of anyone you will ever meet, and goes above and beyond to make sure the disabled children and young people who attend Challengers have fun, feel safe and get the opportunity to try new exciting things. For many of the children Frankie works with, access to play outside of Challengers is extremely limited and, in many cases, non-existent, so she knows first-hand what a positive difference her role has on them and their families.

What's in it for you?

2020 has been a challenging year for everyone in their own unique way. Our Power a Playworker campaign aims to reflect our awareness of the incredible difficulties that businesses are currently facing, with an emphasis on mutually helping each other through this difficult time.

We all know that business for good is good for business, so alongside your fundraising, we can offer extensive promotion of all your hard work across our social media, emails and website, as well as incentives such as the below sponsorship opportunities at our 2021 events.

The first 4 corporates to raise £100 will sponsor a hole with their logo at our popular annual Golf Day.

Raise £250 to become an official sponsor and be featured in our booklets and promotional materials at our Car Drive or Challengers Trek in 2021.

If your business raises £500 or more you will be automatically entered into a raffle to get the chance of winning a team space at our annual Golf Day.

Its also a great opportunity to unite your teams in positive team building activities at a time when they may be feeling more isolated. 2020 has been a hard year to have fun, but we are hoping that by joining this campaign your colleagues will enjoy fundraising to support play at our schemes!

How does it work?

Each week, we'll set a fun theme to engage your staff and there will be virtual activities run by Challengers scattered throughout to help you along the way.

You can raise money via your Just Giving page linked to this campaign page!

Week 1 - Foodie Week! 2nd 6th November - Join in our Bake Off Competition with special Challengers recipes or show off your chef skills with your colleagues by hosting a virtual cooking class! Alternatively, make use of those leftover pumpkins, and host a carving competition. You could even guess how many sweets in the jar or weight of the cake!

Week 2 - Orange Week! 9th - 13th November - Dress up as a tiger, carrot or convict and compete in our most orange Zoom call competition! A prize for the most vibrant team! Alternatively, get sponsored to dye your hair orange like our amazing supporter Graham!

Week 3 - Games Week! 16th 20th November - Compete against colleagues and other businesses in our very own Power a Playworker Quiz night! Or host your very own virtual Game Show, Poker Night or Quiz just like our friends at Riverford!

Week 4 - Challenge Week! 23rd - 27th November Get out of your comfort zone and take on a challenge you've always wanted to face! Scared of spiders? Get sponsored to hold the biggest one you can find for a minute! Hate heights? Pledge to climb the tallest tower in your local area! The possibilities are endless, equally if you are trying to quit a habit, why not get sponsored to start, or introduce a swear jar to your workspace!

We have lots of resources to help you with your fundraising so also make sure to have a look in our toolkit to help you along your way! https://disability-challengers.org/power-a-playworker/

Businesses are more than welcome to use their own fantastic ideas too! As ever, we will be there to support you every step of the way, and every penny you raise will help us power a year of play for disabled children and young people by funding Frankie's amazing work!

To sign up simply create a Just Giving page, or email fundraising@disability-challengers.org - thank you!
