RCN SC011665

Please help the Commonty fund to preserve Tayport's Heritage for future generations to relate to and be proud of being associated with.

Tayport's history is one of transport (Ferry & Railways), Pioneering and Innovative industries (Engineering, Shipbuilding, Saw-milling, Textiles etc.) Exploration and seafaring (40 Ship-masters & Owners resided in Tayport in 1862) all supported by hard working Tayport folk.

All this activity resulted in the creation of a great Community spirit which has remained in the town to this day despite all the changes that have occurred over the last 200 years.

The maintenance of the boards and website is an essential service that the Commonty fund will be providing, the cost of which will amount to approx. £1500 per year, so with its limited resources any help you can give to the Commonty fund towards perpetuating this service into the future will be very valuable and much appreciated.

About the charity

The Commonty Fund was created to manage & distribute the funds paid to the town in 1848 by the Edinburgh, Perth & Dundee Railway Co. for the purchase of a piece of common ground. The funds can only be distributed locally to promote works for the overall benefit of the Town & Community of Tayport
