Story

In Liberia 70% of the population earns a living from agriculture at an average yearly income of $450/yearwhich makes beekeeping the ideal complementary skill. Since 2011 UOF has worked to develop a locally produced honey industry in Liberia, training farmers to become beekeepers, and establishing the Liberia Pure Honey social enterprise to ensure a long-term market for the honey produced. To date more than 1000 Liberian beekeepers have been trained.

At present all honey produced is sold on the local market, where demand currently outstrips supply, both as a food and a medicinal product. The Liberia Pure Honey (https://www.liberiapure.com/) social enterprise ensures that all honey produced by farmers trained by UOF can be quality controlled, harvested, and made available on the market, securing a long-term farm to market cycle.

Help us support their work creating jobs for families in need.
