Story

One afternoon in 2011, Refugee Education UK (then Refugee Support Network) was set up in response to the growing number of unaccompanied asylum seekers in the London borough of Brent. Ten years on, REUK has worked directly with over 550 young people across the UK.

Through a combination of regular mentoring, wellbeing support, leadership opportunities and higher education advice, young refugees from over 45 countries are welcomed and encouraged to rebuild their lives here with hope and optimism. Many are here on their own and almost half are survivors of trafficking or torture.

You're going to want to give up, but if there is someone to support you, you will have courage to make your dream come true. - Mariama, aged 21.

With a new name and a new refugee education centre on the horizon, REUK is entering a new chapter of its own. We want to support as many young refugees as we can across the country and are developing our research and advocacy work to bring about structural change for refugees in the UK.

Please support our wonderful friends and athletes as they train and give up their time to support young refugees in the UK. We are incredibly grateful and excited to be one of the charities represented by the Kensal Rise Triathlon Team, who are entering the Blenheim Palace Triathlon on September 11th 2021.

Your donation will be used where it is needed most within REUK, across our programmes and towards the refurbishment of the new building, which will create a unique and safe space for young refugees who urgently need it.

- £20 gives a young refugee vital information about their education options and eligibility, enabling them to make informed decisions about their future.

- £47 provides a face-to-face session with our Further Education Project Coordinator in which a young refugee can get personalised guidance, information and support to move forward.

- £65 enables five young refugees to participate in an interactive workshop to explore and understand their education options and next steps.

- £100 will match three young refugees with trained volunteer mentors who offer them advice with their assignments and exams, and create a regular and welcoming space to develop their language skills and grow in confidence/
