Story
In July 2020, Reverse Rett will be 10 years old!
With the Covid 19 crisis not over it was not the way we wanted to celebrate the last 10 years of progress in Rett research.
When we launched we were full of hope for the future and we were excited about how families in the UK could contribute to Rett research. There were no clinical trials and no licensed medicines to treat symptoms of Rett.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of families, their friends and connections over £7M has now been sent directly to the International Research Programme. We have also helped to facilitate two clinical trials (with more on the way) to treat symptoms here in the UK and identify and work with clinicians able to implement these trials.
For the next 3 years we will be funding the world's first centre for personalised medicine in Rett Syndrome. It will be led by Professor Santosh and his team at King's College Hospital in London. The team have vast experience of patients with Rett Syndrome and are currently involved in both UK trials.
This is the first time we have committed such a large chunk of our income to one project. The centre needs almost half our yearly income so the pressure is on to take our fundraising to another level. We have high hopes for this centre and have confidence in the team to greatly improve the lives of children with Rett Syndrome both in the UK and beyond.
Please join us and help us keep moving forward by donating £10 to help us celebrate our 10th year. 100% of the money raised from this campaign will be ring fenced for the new centre. Please share far and wide and help make 2020 a great year for Rett research.
Thank you,
The Trustees and Staff at Reverse Rett
