Story
I am lucky to be the CEO of SARSAS, Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support, an organisation I am passionate about, that helps those people affected by rape and sexual abuse. We know that 1 in 5 women and 1 in 8 men will experience sexual violence at some point in their lives. In recent years sexual violence has become prominent in the media and we are seeing many more victim-survivors coming forward to seek support. We want to encourage people to come forward, but demand is huge and sadly people have to be put on a waiting list. My mission is to get rid of the waiting list so that people seeking help get it when they feel they need it.
So I am running an Ultra marathon to raise money for SARSAS.
You may know I'm a keen runner- but an ULTRA Marathon? 55 kilometres? 34 miles?
Will that stop me? Will I quit?
No WAY!!
The route will take me to places of breath-taking beauty and some of the ascents will literally leave me breathless!!! But I am driven by my determination to complete the course and raise as much as I can to help people rebuild their lives after sexual assault.
My training is well under way; I've got a good pair of trainers and a really nice water bottle . . . all I need now are donations!
I know that the support SARSAS offers to victim-survivors can be lifechanging. I know this because that's exactly what our clients tell us, again and again. Please give me your support so that SARSAS can give support to those who need us. Thank you!
#Clairesrun
A BIG thank you to everyone that has donated to Claire's JG page, she has raised an AMAZING £2,761 (Including gift aid). Every penny will help to further SARSAS' mission of bringing healing to more people who have been affected by rape and sexual abuse. We couldn't have done it without our amazing supporters!
