Story
Newtownards gymnast, Rhys McClenaghan, a Commonwealth gold medallist and European champion, is making a staggering attempt at 40 Russian circles in one minute on the pommel horse. His effort is being staged to raise funds for Action Mental Health's services which support the mental health of people of all ages across Northern Ireland, with the current world record standing at 35.
Rhys, 22, an ambassador for Action Mental Health, has spoken out about the challenges he has faced in his own mental health, particularly after his gold medal bid for gold on the pommel horse at last summers Tokyo Olympics was thwarted. Rhys has been lending his support to Action Mental Health since 2018 as an official ambassador for the charity.
Rhys is calling on his supporters to make a donation to support his World Record Challenge. All funds raised will go directly to Action Mental Health to support their vital mental health services.
What's more, everyone who makes a donation of at least £10, will be entered into a free draw to win some very special gear from one of Rhys' sponsors and Ireland's largest and most recognisable athleisure brand Gym+Coffee, who are donating a full athletic outfit to the winner, plus a water bottle, keepcups and socks.
To be in with a chance of winning you must share your name and contact details with Action Mental Health when donating, so that you can be entered in the draw and so that the lucky winners can be contacted!
Good Luck Rhys.
