Visit the charity's profileEach year Rotarian Richard Power chooses to take on a challenge to raise funds through the Rotary Club of Leicester for causes that are close to his heart.
Last year someone very close to Richard decided he could no longer face the realities of the modern world, having lived a full-on life, including 12 years in the Army serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, the latter embedded with the US Marines in Helmand.
Therefore, this year, Richard is raising money, through the Rotary Club of Leicester, for two amazing charities:
Sapper Support (https://www.sappersupport.com Registered Charity Number: 1167986) supports ex-Military and Emergency Services personnel suffering from the symptoms of PTSD, and Focus (https://www.focus-charity.co.uk Registered Charity Number: 1068467) the Rotary Club of Leicester's 2022/23 Presidential Charity. Focus.is a Leicester-based charity which aims to get youngsters back on track through involvement in projects and community work.
Richard will be cycling from Plymouth to Inverness via five Coast to Coast routes, his 5C2C Challenge.
The five routes are the Devon C2C, the Welsh End to End (Lon Las Cymru), the Classic C2C, the Scottish C2C and the Great Glen Way. The total distance will be 1000k (620 miles). He will be cycling up to 60 miles/day. This will be on his E-bike (I know!), but Richard is 65 with no cycling history and will be alone and unsupported for over 14 days of cycling!
