Rise Above Cancer comes under STSFT charitable funds and supports cancer patients and their families across South Tyneside and Sunderland. The charity fundraises to help improve the quality of life of our patients and help them get access to the services that can make a difference. This support costs money and due to COVID (like many other services) we depend on the funds raised to continue our support. Support provided includes benefits advice, complementary therapists, legal advice and support, bandanas for patients going through chemotherapy and Look Good Feel Better events. Additionally it is used to support patients who come into hospital and have no family support, to purchase toiletries, pyjamas and everyday essentials.

Throughout the last difficult year Rise Above Cancer has continued to support patients across the region, not only with their normal service but also providing practical support for isolating and shielding cancer patients. Using kind donations to this charity we delivered over 400 food parcels, toiletries and everyday essentials to help patient through COVID.

We want to start 2021 on a high and we are asking for your help. We would like our supporters to walk a Million steps for us in 2021 and help us Kick Cancer's Butt!

If you do at least 10,000 steps a day for 100 days you are well on your way to a NEW YOU in 2021 not only feeling fitter and healthier but doing good raising monies for our Rise Above Cancer charitable fund here at the Trust. You can choose, to jog, walk, dance, or skip!

There are any number of free fitness apps that you can use to track your steps or get yourself a pedometer. If you do mange to do 1 million steps you will have covered 500miles!
