The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileNext Tuesday 7 December we are planning a Santa Dash supported by the PSA. Monies raised from the Santa Dash will be donated to the Rob Burrow Centre for MND (Motor Neurone Disease) and the PSA for the benefit of our School community.
In Active Tutorial last week, the pupils were shown presentations relating to MND and the amazing fund-raising which has been done by Kevin Sinfield in support of his former team mate, Rob Burrow, who spent 16 years playing scrum half and hooker for Leeds Rhinos rugby league team in the Super League.
Rob was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in December 2019. He is now confined to a wheelchair, able to communicate only via an eye-driven communication device and cared for by his wife, Lindsey.
Rob coached Ackworth Jaguars between 2004 and 2010 and had also volunteered to coach the side again in one of their fund-raising events for MND in early 2020. Unfortunately, this was postponed due to the first lockdown. As a School we had also organised an MND fund-raising event involving a run around our School grounds; this too had to be cancelled as a result of the pandemic.
Rob Burrow is aiming to raise £5M to build a specialist MND care centre in Leeds. We hope that you will support us in seeing this as a very worthwhile cause with a local connection.
Many thanks for your support.
