The impact of Covid-19 on the mental health and emotional well-being of children and young people is becoming a source of huge concern.

Roundabout is a Dramatherapy charity turning lives around through mental health support. We have 35 years experience working with clients, including pupils, families and staff in schools.

Our intention is to save children from absolute meltdown, protect childrens mental health at a time when they are experiencing unparalleled levels of stress. Their routine has been smashed overnight, they are experiencing crushing disappointments and frustrations, and at some point they will have to re-transition in order to return to school.

We are experts at working with children experiencing high levels of anxiety, distress and anger. In addition to supporting the children and young people we already know and work with, there is an acute need to provide an ongoing supply of creative therapeutic resources for children in the wider community. Children who might otherwise fall through the net.

Funds generated from this campaign will enable Roundabout to provide a mental health life line during the crisis, where possible face to face and if not, then remotely. We also need to be ready for when we can go back into schools and care homes, when there will be an even greater need for our help. It is sobering to consider the how deeply many children and adults who will have suffered over these months of lockdown: bereavement, depression, family dysfunction, isolation, abuse, deprivation. We need to ensure that Roundabout is still functioning and ready to help.
