Story

SHS Practitioners have identified over 700 pupils who do not have access to personal hygiene products. Some go to school without having a shower, and without socks and underwear because their families cannot afford basic personal care and hygiene items. Period poverty affects girls from poorer families, often leaving girls feeling they have no option but to miss school every month.

Without these essential items, it is difficult for children to be totally focused on their learning. This is where we would love your help.

By donating to this campaign, your generous gift will allow our SHS Practitioners to purchase products such as sanitary items, face masks, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, socks and underwear, for students who they have identified as most in need. Our Practitioners have trusting relationships with these families and so are able to identify and purchase exactly what they need.

Your support will help children feel comfortable and confident in school, ready to learn.

Thank you for all your support, I am so grateful and can hardly believe that we are getting the help we need. - David, parent supported by SHS

RCN 1084696
School-Home Support (SHS) tackles barriers to learning for disadvantaged children. We work outside of the classroom, with parents to improve school attendance, behaviour and engagement in learning. Supporting children’s education is one of the most effective ways to break the cycle of disadvantage.
