Story

For more than 40 years skiers, snowboarders, members, volunteers and staff have built a unique adaptive snowsport community.

Disability Snowsport UK has made it through the worst of the ravages of the pandemic but the resources that helped us stick together during these tough times are dwindling fast. The Omicron wave of the pandemic wiped out much of the last winter's activities and saw holidays cancelled again.

Disabled children and adults across the UK share the joy, fitness and friendship that snowsport brings. As our President Lisa Hall says:

"I have seen that our groups and activities offer is so much more than snowsport. My sister, Susan, who had Downs Syndrome, learned to ski with DSUK; she said my life is skiing: it was! It gave her freedom, confidence and independence and showed her that she could be an equal. We give people hope that life is worth living after a life changing diagnosis or injury, or when other activities simply aren't accessible."

Our much-loved community and the winter ahead are at risk. We need to act together to ensure that we can celebrate a winter season in 2022/23. We need your help today.

Snowsport brings freedom, friendship and fun to so many people. This is only possible because of the members, volunteers and supporters like you. Thank you for supporting our #SOS Appeal.

What difference will you make?

£15 will pay for an hours slope fees for a child taking their first lesson

£50 will pay for a specialist instructor to plan and deliver two hours of lessons for someone recovering from a life changing injury to regain their confidence and be active again

£100 will provide a group lesson for 4 disabled young people to develop their skills and confidence

£500 will cover the staff costs of an instructor for a week while they support a family to take a holiday together

£1,000 will help us work in partnership with another disability organisation to bring fun, fitness and community to more disabled people

About the charity
