Story
Since June 2020, the St Johnstone Community Trust have been operating the Give or Take food larders in North Perth - maintaining and stocking each box on a daily basis with the support of a team of volunteers and local partners.
The food larders are small wooden boxes first launched as a response to COVID-19 and the resulting national lockdown. Residents give what they can and take what they need. In some cases, the Give or Take boxes represent the only way food can be provided to those in need and those often living on a day-to-day basis.
In recent months, due to the lack of food being donated, the Community Trust have had to change from stocking the boxes twice a day to only once a day.
The economic impact of COVID-19 has still not fully emerged. With increasing redundancies and business closures, and the added pressures which the winter period can bring, these Give or Take boxes continue to prove vital in supporting local people and families.
This winter, St Johnstone FC and Saints in the Community are joining forces to launch this appeal. Any amount you can donate will make a huge difference and allow us to continue to stock the boxes throughout winter (and hopefully beyond!).
