Story
Meet Salem.
Salem was brought into branch care in a very bad way via an inspector. He is only a young boy, and despite his beautiful little face, he has had a very tough week - and a tough recovery ahead.
When Salem came into branch care, he was dehydrated, starving, and needed urgent medical attention to relieve his blocked bladder. Salem was taken direct to the vets, where his life was hanging in the balance, as without catheterisation, this poor, beautiful boy would have gone downhill - and fast.
Salem has been in the vets for a week; in that time, he has had extensive surgery to relieve his blocked bladder, having been catheterised twice, and has been neutered while in the vets, who have done an absolutely incredible job in caring for him. This boy - despite such a horrific ordeal at roughly only one year of age - is the most loving, affectionate, playful and friendly little fellow who loves nothing more than to cuddle. But, Salem's vet bills have been extensive.
We are asking for your help to raise £3800 to cover Salem's vet bills. Salem is without a doubt worth every single penny, and we would do it over and over again, but in order to help other animals like Salem, we want to ensure we have the money there to help the next little Salem who comes along.
Of course, any money over Salem's vet fees will go straight back into the branch to cover the general costs of our healthier animals.
Salem is now safe in his foster home, where he is being helped on his road to recovery with a lot of love, gentle play and affection. Salem's health scare isn't quite over though, as the next few days are critical in ensuring Salem continues to pass urine on his own, and fights back after his ordeal.
We are desperate for Salem to fight this, and as a branch, we are doing everything we possibly can to ensure his recovery is as easy and as gentle as possible. Salem is a prime example of how incredibly brave and stoic, animals are.
The RSPCA Lincolnshire Mid and Lincoln branch, while under the umbrella of the National RSPCA, is a separately registered charity who are responsible for generating their own income and raising their own funds, via their charity shops, fundraising events and donations from the public. Their job is to ensure the animals in their care receive the veterinary treatment, care and love they so rightly deserve before finding their forever home.
