Sarah Brown says: "Women come to Women's Aid because they know they will be supported and believed. This time of the year can be particularly difficult for women and children living with domestic abuse, and this year, with Covid-19 and lockdown, has been harder than ever. As a survivor myself, I am proud to sing this song for Women's Aid. I hope you will enjoy it and, if you can, donate to this very special cause."
Sarah Brown has felt the healing power of music all her life. As a teenager in Aylesbury, she sang with a gospel choir which became the first to be signed to a major label. After singing with (amongst others) Simply Red, Roxy Music and Pink Floyd, Sarah has been a member of Simple Minds for 13 years. Sarah also teaches vocal therapy, guiding others to sing from a place of authenticity and to heal the soul.
Thank you to Sarah Brown and all those who supported the recording: award-winning musical director Ian Oakley, film director Shean Roberts and assistant Andrew Cotterill, sound engineer Toby Burrow, Joseph Loveridge, and Father Alan of St-Jude-on-the-Hill, the parish church of Hampstead Garden Suburb.
Women's Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. Over the past 45 years, Women's Aid has been at the forefront of shaping and coordinating responses to domestic abuse through practice, research and policy. We empower survivors by keeping their voices at the heart of our work, working with and for women and children by listening to them and responding to their needs.
By donating to Women's Aid, you will help us to keep supporting survivors who have been impacted by domestic abuse to reach safety, freedom and independence. Your donation will enable us to continue to campaign to achieve change in policy, practice and awareness, encouraging healthy relationships and helping to build a future where domestic abuse is no longer tolerated.
