We work to relieve and educate young people who are in need because of adverse environmental, domestic, social or economic circumstances. We believe we work in a unique way to facilitate growth and maturity as individuals and members of society so that their conditions of life may be improved.

Story

Second Chance is a nationally established independent and innovative social agency with many resources and skills at its disposal. Uniquely, we take youngsters fishing and use the medium of this popular leisure time activity to establish links and lines of communication between the youngsters and the volunteer adults, and to give children a sense of achievement, confidence and a social understanding. The children we work with come from three main backgrounds. They may have been abused, sexually, physically or mentally, they may come from a poverty stricken background or they may have learning difficulties. This is a bit of an overgeneralisation for instance, some may have all three situations thrust upon them at the same time! These children carry their disability on the inside and we consider them to be amongst the most disadvantage group of people in Britain today. We are at the forefront of caring for children who need special help and work with whoever is referred to us. We are not all about numbers, Its about individuals and we would do it all just for one child.

We have entered our Farm Manager/Youth Worker and one of our 15 year old lads for this fishing charity match. This young lad has come such a long way since being with us and his love, ability and knowledge for fishing has increased dramatically. We believe they are going to be a great pair.

Any support for our Second Chance pair is greatly appreciated!
