Covid-19 has had a devasting impact globally, exposing economic fissures and inequalities. The acute effects on women and girls in Asia are stark: they've lost economic security in record numbers, and are often excluded from opportunities for jobs and education, further creating an ecosystem of vulnerability. With your support, we're able to mobilize quickly in response to the trafficking and gender-based violence (GBV) crises profoundly impacting women and girls across the region.
One of the many programs that The Asia Foundation has conducted in recent years to combat the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic includes our Safe Home Initiative in Pakistan. Please see a video below to see some of our work:
Given the disproportionate impact of the coronavirus on women and girls in Asia, we established a Covid-19 Lotus Rapid Response Fund to address the immediate gendered impacts of Covid-19.
