2019 has seen a dramatic increase in our involvement with animal rescue. Starting with the translocation of a young bull elephant, nicknamed Harry. Harry escaped his reserve in search of food and water. A hunting permit was immediately issued. The Aspinall Foundation and Wild 911 stepped in overturning the permit and organising a relocation for Harry to a safe reserve. Due to the dire conditions at Harry's original home, Blaauwbosch Private Game Reserve the remaining wildlife were struggling to access food and water. Our team then assisted in the relocation of 11 Elephants, 4 Giraffe, 24 Wildebeest and 19 Buffalo from Blauuwbosch to new safe homes. This was a massive collaborative effort working alongside other conservation organisations such as Wildlife 911, Conservation Solutions, and renowned wildlife vet Dr William Fowlds, with the help of protected reserves of Mount Camdeboo and Buffalo Kloof. Sadly Blaauwbosch is not an exception. Our Southern Africa Director Dereck commented ''There are unfortunately too many animals in this situation in Southern Africa that require the intervention of organisation such as ours and Wild 911''
The work carried out by The Aspinall Foundation is only possible with the support of individual donors. By supporting this incredible project you are allowing us to continue rescuing animals in need in Southern Africa. Read more about our Blaauwbosch Rescue here.
