Story
Kalea played cricket just for fun when she joined St Lawrence College aged thirteen. However it soon became clear from her personal enthusiasm and commitment to the game that she wanted to play at a higher level and, with the right support, had the inherent ability to do so. With help from her coaches and after taking part in numerous specialist training sessions, Kalea began to improve very quickly and was soon one of the best players at the College. Such was her progress that, by the time she left at eighteen, Kalea had signed professional contracts with Kent Ladies 1st team, South East Stars and Northern Superchargers. Her former Head of Cricket, Mr Seth Simmons, said: If Kalea keeps performing at this rate, she will undoubtedly play for England.
Kalea's progression at the College has shown the possibilities for how the emerging girls cricket programme could be developed even further. She has also become an inspirational role model to the current generation of pupils. But Kalea also exemplifies a distinctly Lawrentian focus on nurturing every child. Irrespective of ability or aspirations, the College will seek to give every pupil the chance to fulfil their potential wherever this lies. These new facilities and pavilion demonstrates this commitment even further.
