Story

3,000 miles across the Atlantic ocean, over 1.5m million oar strokes and four grown men squashed in a rowing boat

This is Strokes 4 Blokes: four mates taking a stand against suicide by taking on the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge. More people climb Mount Everest than row the ocean. So this is some feat, even for Dan, Jack, Mike and Jean-Claude - an adventurous bunch.

With up to 30 teams from around the world competing to break the record for the fastest crossing, the race begins in San Sebastian, La Gomera and ends in Antigua and Barbuda. The annual race begins early December, meaning The Blokes will be away from their families over Christmas.

Why are they taking on this incredible challenge? Because 125 people die by suicide every week in the UK. And 75% of suicides are male. The Blokes want to change this.

We are men ourselves, and we all have fathers, brothers, children, friends, teammates, or colleagues who, one day, may need support. Our mission is to raise awareness of suicide and help CALM in their life-saving work. Our epic Atlantic rowing challenge is the best way we know to do it.

£31,000 raised through the 125 Row Challenge

Alongside their own race, the team have been inspiring people to get involved with their own challenge, asking them to row 125km at their local gym. So far the 125 challenge has raised over £31,000, helping to fund over 3,700 potentially life-saving calls.
