Story

Every year in the UK 2,400 children and young people (up to and including the age of 18) are diagnosed with cancer and we are passionate about helping all of these families along this difficult journey.

Your fundraising and donations will go directly to helping kids with cancer by providing them with new lightweight bikes and specially adapted trikes which help them to regain their physical fitness, improve mental wellness and reduce social isolation after months of cancer treatment. It also enables them to get outside and have some much needed fun with their family! Since the charity began in 2005 we have helped over 8,500 children, children just like Nye:

Nye is 9 years old and was born with cerebral palsy. He was diagnosed with leukaemia at 6 years old and relapsed in 2020, he had a bone marrow transplant last year. Mum says,

"Just to let you know we are in receipt of the bike. It was a group effort and the nurses did their best to get him off the lines to sneak him out of the ward.

Boy what a mean looking bike it is. It is the right colour and doesn't look too specialist as Nye is at the age he gets self conscious. I was worried Nye wouldn't have enough strength to get on today, as it's only the 3rd time he's left his room in 3 months. The bike was absolutely perfect. What a big difference a custom bike made. His legs have got really stiff and the bike not only had foot plates, but callipers to keep his legs straight. He even managed to propel himself. It's something I wasn't expecting this early on. It is the most I've seen him move and that was only up and down the road.

Thank you so much. I can't tell you how grateful we are. We are all over the moon. We plan to sneak him out again this week so we can go to the park. It has given him a real boost. Nye is still in hospital, as it has been quite a bumpy road. Actually this last fight has been incredibly hard. On the days he has been allowed out, (which I could count on one hand) he says he feels too unwell to leave. Nye was very quiet coming back to hospital, but had a big smile on his face and said 'that was even better than I thought'.

Thank you for making the process so easy to do a good thing. It has come at just the right time, to help him believe he will get out of hospital. Thank you for giving him something to look forward to and a hobby he will be able to enjoy in isolation in the months to come when he finally manages to get out."
