Organised by Teddy20We want to be able to keep offering respite holidays at Ted's shack, a static caravan in Weymouth. This is where children living with cancer and their families can escape the hospital environment and make precious memories together.
In 2015 Teddy20 were delighted to purchase a luxury 39ft static caravan in Bowleaze Cove, Weymouth. This was after months of intense fundraising to achieve our dream of offering free holidays to children undergoing cancer treatment in the Wessex region and their family, by referral.
We wanted to offer a home from home holiday providing much needed breaks away from the hospital environment. It is our aim to enable families going through this ordeal to spend quality time together and make precious memories. For a brief time, the children can relax and forget all about hospital life.
When our dear Ted fell ill, we personally experienced the immense support and comfort that a home away from home can provide. It was a remarkable opportunity for Ted to step away from the hospital environment and create treasured memories with his family. To this day, we hold those moments close to our hearts, grateful for the chance to cherish them forever.
This year (2022) we are incredibly proud to announce that thanks to support and donations we were able to buy a brand new Teds Shack!
Teds Shack is a luxury holiday home situated on a 5-star resort in Dorset. It has a double bedroom with en-suite and a twin bedroom including a separate bathroom with a shower. Teds Shack is fully centrally heated, double glazed and has an electric fire. There is a flat screen TV and DVD player and WIFI. We have numerous childrens DVD, games and books. There is a fully fitted kitchen with fridge/freezer, cooker and microwave.
We firmly believe that every child deserves the opportunity to create everlasting memories with their loved ones, even in the face of adversity. It is through your kindness that we can extend a helping hand and bring a glimmer of hope and joy into their lives. Together, we can make a profound impact to the lives of children and young people living with cancer.
