Story

We want you to WAKE UP on World Homelessness Day.

Shelter is predicting 230,000 renters are at risk of Covid-eviction and Generation Rent estimating that 17 per cent of renters have fallen into arrears since the beginning of the pandemic. With furlough and the ban of evictions ending in August were asking YOU to join our team for The Sleep Out 2020 were asking you to help us raise awareness of homelessness on your social media and potentially help us raise funds to support those seriously affected by the economic crisis.

You can take part in the sponsored event by sleeping somewhere unusual overnight AND you can help us cause a scene on social media by asking other to WAKE UP on World Homeless Day too.

All you need to do is to find a tricky spot to sleep in your garden or home, and sleep there on Friday 9th October. It could be on top of some cardboard in your back garden? Or in the cupboard under the stairs. Or anywhere unusual or uncomfortable.

The bonus of a virtual event is that anyone can take part individuals, families, workplaces, churches, schools or youth groups*

START: FRIDAY 9TH OCTOBER AT 10PM (OR EARLIER IF YOU WANT TO BED DOWN EARLIER)

FINISH: SATURDAY 10TH OCTOBER AT 7AM.
