Story

UHB Charity is thrilled to be able to help the Skull Base Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham by providing surgical kits for patients who have had to have their eye's removed in many cases through cancer.

Having an eye removed is very much the last port of call for patients in order to prolong their lives. If an eye removal is the only option it can be a really scary process and leave the patient emotionally distressed as they go through their treatment journey.

This is why we wanted to help make that transition for patients a little bit easier by providing all the essentials they will need once they leave the hospital. Our eye care packs contain items from creams and gauzes to cotton pads and eye patches.

£100 can provide a patient having their eye's removed with the essentials they will need once they leave the hospital.

About the charity

University Hospitals Birmingham Charity supports four hospitals in Birmingham - Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope, and Solihull. We support the patients, families and staff at our hospitals by providing 'added extras' that are over and above those which are provided by the NHS.
