Story

Due to the dreadful consequences of the war, nearly all Ukrainian Government funds are going to the war effort and the wounded, so hospitals are relying almost entirely on charitable donations.

The Rotary Club of Tarporley, in conjunction with The Ukrainian Cultural Association in the UK, are raising funds to purchase much needed medical equipment for Children's Hospitals in Ukraine.

We would love you to join us at The Storyhouse in Chester at 7pm on Friday 25th November when we are hosting an evening of popular Classical Operatic arias and duets, Ukrainian songs and Ukrainian war poems in English. Our performers include:

Elena Xanthoudakis Elana is a Greek-Australian soprano who has performed in operas, concerts and recitals around the world including Covent Garden, Glyndebourne, ENO and Scottish Opera.

Rozanna Madylus Rozanna is a British-Ukrainian mezzo-soprano. She has appeared as both a soloist and chorus member on international stages including English National Opera, Birmingham Opera Company, Wexford Frestival Opera and Le Festival dAix-en-Provence.

Maryam dAbo Maryam is an actress who is well known internationally for a wide range of film (Bond), television and stage roles.

Alla Sirenko Alla is both President of the Ukrainian Cultural Association in the UK, and also our producer for this event. She is one of the most exciting composers and pianists to emerge from Ukraine. A former Composer in Residence at the Lviv Opera Theatre, her opera-fantasy The Golden Penguin was premiered at Covent Garden making her the first Ukrainian composer to have an opera performed at the Royal Opera House

We will also have a stunning visual depiction of Ukraine by Paul Cascarino.

To buy tickets: Please purchase your tickets direct from the Storyhouse website (https://rb.gy/acyugy ). If you prefer to book by phone, please call the box office on: 01244 409113.

If you are unable to join us on the night, but would like to donate to our appeal, please do so using this JustGiving page.

Whether your donation is large or small, we very much appreciate your generosity in supporting this appeal. The more we can raise, the greater the number of seriously ill children in Ukraine that we can help.
