VIPlea - please rescue our rescue!

We are hoping to raise enough to get our bank balance back to the amount it was at the start of the year - so that we can continue to provide lifetime rescue back up to dogs like Tara, and so we can continue to rescue dogs and give them a better life

Story

It saddens us to have to share with you all the news that, much like the situation the rescue faced 2 years ago, we are again in very serious danger of closing.

As a small completely volunteer run rescue, we rely entirely on donations and fundraising and unfortunately, over the last 8 months, our expenses have massively exceeded the money both raised and donated.

We are doing our best to help as many dogs in need as we financially can, and are constantly trying to raise the necessary funds to continue to do this, however, sometimes it is just not enough.

We currently have 13 dogs in foster homes and 7 dogs in boarding kennels - and the running costs to cover the ongoing vet and kennel expenses can be very expensive.

Especially if we have unforeseen or unexpected costs. An example of this is our lovely senior lady Tara. As we provide lifetime rescue back up to all ADDR dogs, if something happens in an adoptive family's life which means they are no longer able to care for their adopted dog, the dog is returned to the rescue to find another suitable home for them - and this was the case with Tara. She was returned to our care 7 months ago and has been living with her loving foster family since then. As an older lady she has some medical issues and over the last 7 months, her vet expenses (including a little operation to remove some lumps on her head) have been close to £1500. She is recovering well and getting all the love and attention she could wish for from her foster family. Money well spent to ensure her health and wellbeing, but outgoings such as these do have an effect on what little 'spare' funds the rescue has.

To give you a fuller picture of the last 8 months, our average monthly outgoings have been £2275.35 - compared with an average amount coming in of £1451.44.

Thankfully a few dogs will secure their forever homes this month, so our outgoings should go back to a more manageable level - but the last 8 months really have hit the rescue hard.

And now comes the plea!! We really need your help. Many of you already support us through either your time volunteering, continued involvement of our fundraising such as the recent auctions or by paying regular monthly donations - and we really cannot thank you enough. We could not continue to help these dogs without your help. We may only be a team of 9 coordinators - but team ADDR includes all of you.

And hopefully every one of you will be able to give a little (or a lot if you can afford it!) to get us through this difficult and rather stressful blip in the life of a dog rescue. We are hoping to raise enough to get our dwindling bank balance back up to the amount it was at the start of this year.

Thank you so much for your continued support.
