Story

Nyasha plans to walk the second half of the Pieterpad Trail in Holland in 2020 to raise more funds for the Science Block.

Vana Trust's mission is to provide education, training and support to equip young and vulnerable people with the skills and knowledge towards independence, self-reliance, individual achievement and social responsibility.

Vana Trust has an ongoing developmental programme at St David's which will encompass the building of a science laboratory and buying of the equipment. The Trust continues to support children after they leave primary and high school, with funding for further education or training. Young adults are encouraged to develop small businesses and trades through micro-financing and training schemes. The Trust plans to expand its activities in Africa to provide the necessary facilitation for more children and further schools.

Vana Trust is currently supporting 39 children to date and looking to identify additional students. 34 children are in primary and high school whereas 6 are in university. Among our university students, 2 are graduating this year, the first, with an academic award known as Book Prize, the second, also graduating with a first class degree and a thread of distinctions.

This will be the fourth annual fundraising hike undertaken by Nyasha. Previous hikes include the length of the Thames, across central Zimbabwe and around the Channel Islands. She will be joined by her hardcore group of supporters including Thandi Haruperi and John Usher. Also joining her is an extra special walker, Vimbai Mandishona, who has been supported throughout her higher education in Zimbabwe by Vana Trust.
