Moldova supporting Ukraine...

Moldova, the poorest country in Europe has a vast border with Ukraine. As such Moldova has received huge numbers of refugees fleeing the Ukraine war and the most refugees per capita of any other country. This is a huge strain on such a small resource-poor country but the stories we are hearing from our friends are incredible and inspiring.

Innovista has been working in Moldova since 2018, training church leaders. Last year alone, we trained 307 leaders in Moldova. These incredible fast growing churches are at the forefront of the refugee response providing shelter, food, supplies and onwards accommodation.

Maricela's response...

Maricela, the Innovista Moldova Director is spearheading this important work and also coordinating churches, agencies and governments as they respond to this huge crisis. This photo above is of her and Moldova young leaders at one of the many Moldovan-Ukrainian borders waiting to give food, advice and accommodation to refugees. This is an incredible commitment on behalf of these local churches as their own struggles are also enormous.

An accident...

Last week Maricela was in an awful car accident. Although miraculously she and 3 of her children in the car with her were largely unharmed, the car is a write-off. She wrote:

A car is vital for this refugee work going 250km there and back to the border and other cities.
