The Kirkwood exists to improve the quality of life for local people, against all odds. We help those in our care to live well and make the most of every single day. We make the complex simple by focusing on what's important, and we support families and loved ones to live on and live well.

Story

This year, our biggest fundraising event of the year - the Midnight Memory Walk - had to be rescheduled from it's original date in June, to Saturday 10th October.

We know this date won't work for everyone so that's why we're turning the Memory Walk virtual!

If you can't take part on 10th October, or just prefer to do your own thing, then why not sign up to our brand new Virtual Memory Walk?

All you have to do is walk 6 or 10 miles, on any one day in October. You choose the route, the date and the time!

When you sign up, youll receive a t-shirt and walker pack and youll even get a medal once your walk is complete! Even your four-legged friends will receive a medal if you register your dog to take part too!

Theres no minimum fundraising target, all we ask is that you raise as much as you can by sharing your challenge and progress with your friends and family! Your registration fee covers the cost of you taking part, so every donation, no matter how big or small, really does make a difference.

No matter where, or when you complete the walk, and whether you take part in memory of someone special, or just to challenge yourself - you will be part of something amazing as our community laces up and comes together for Kirkwood this October.

So how does it work?

Simply sign up through Eventbrite here: https://virtualmemorywalk2020.eventbrite.co.uk or by using one of our paper forms.

Choose if you'd like to complete 6 or 10 miles and decide which day you'd like to complete your challenge on (you can always change your mind on either of these later!)

When we receive your registration, well send you a walker pack which contains key information and your iconic Memory Walk t-shirt!

Once you sign up, youll also be prompted to set up a JustGiving fundraising page- get this set up as soon as possible so your family and friends can support you and you can share your progress with them!

When you complete your challenge, make sure to record it (you could use a fitness app such as Strava, a mobile phone, smartwatch or pedometer) then just send us the evidence that youve walked 6 or 10 miles, in one go. This could be by uploading a screenshot to your JustGiving page or sending it to us via email (if you have Strava, make sure to link your account to your JustGiving page and your activity should be uploaded automatically).

Once we receive the evidence that you have completed 6 or 10 miles in one day in October , we will send you your well-deserved finisher's pack which will contain your collectible Memory Walk medal!
