Story
We're off to Malawi in October 2023 to travel across the southern section of 'the warm heart of Africa'. For two weeks we will scale mountains to survey Malawi's stunning landscapes, witness some of the most exotic wildlife we'll ever see and meet people who will show us what it is like to live in one of the poorest, but peaceful, countries in the world.
In return, we would very much like to be able to support the programmes of the people who make this trip so special for us. For instance, we would like to:
- enable award-winning clinics like Achikondi and Koche K0che clinic to extend more of their life-saving neo natal and family planning services to villagers who live far from the city hospitals
- help Open Arms to admit more abandoned babies into their care and continue their vital infant feeding programmes in villages like Nomala
- secure primary and education places for more village children at extraordinary schools like Bolera Palms, Thom's Colourful Classroom and Malawi Children's Village and equip these same schools with basic educational resources such as books, pens, chalk and paper, all bought locally
- keep more girls in school with reusable sanitary wear made locally for us by Netties and Trinipads
- support Godknow's and Helen's determination to ensure the future of every one of their 92 foster children with vocational training through STEKA
- support ambitious reforestation programmes set by Zomba TREEZ and Mulanje Conservation Trusts in the face of desperate illegal logging and wild-fires
- provide more children with access to the sports they love - netball and football - with basic footwear, strips, sport equipment and travel expenses.
If you can spare some funds to help us help our partners to help these children in Malawi, please donate today.
