In order to complete the creation of a Wellness Garden at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, we need to raise £100,000.
The project will see the physical transformation of a currently unused courtyard at the hospital. The project has been spearheaded by the Dementia team who want to provide their patients, and those with anxiety and mental health issues, with an outdoor environment which is safe and secure and designed to promote wellness and decrease stress.
The therapeutic garden space will showcase the importance of outside space for positive mental health and our vision is for the garden to play an important role in the recovery of our patients, staff, and the wider community.
The garden will provide a space for relaxation and fresh air, creating a calming space which stimulates the senses through sight, smell, touch and sound, the planting scheme has been specifically designed to evoke the senses thoroughly. The design will also maximise the opportunity to attract birds and wildlife to the garden.
In the future we hope to work with the local community to recruit Wellness Garden volunteers to help with maintenance as well as supporting staff and patients to get involved. If you would be interested in becoming a Wellness Garden volunteer please email info@wahcharity.org.
Thank you for your support.
