How does the Gatehouse support Oxfords homeless and vulnerably housed community?
We have been providing support to this community since 1988, offering a wide range of free services that are accessible to all. We now also actively seek to provide support for individuals in danger of falling into homelessness, those on low or no income, suffering from food or fuel poverty, or simply looking for companionship.
The current cost of living crisis combined with lingering economic impacts from the Covid pandemic has caused a massive and ongoing increase in levels of demand for our services and the costs incurred by us in providing them. Despite financial pressures we have been able to widen the range of support that we provide in recent years by adding services such as a Counsellor, a Womens Hub, shower services and a Lived Experience Forum to our core community centre and café services and our Casework one-to-one individual support.
What comes next, and how can you help?
Over the coming year our plan is to continue adding new services that will fulfil currently unmet demand, and to increase capacity across current service areas. All of that will require significant funding, and we rely heavily on individuals and organisations in the local community to provide a significant proportion of that money through their donations and fundraising efforts.
We are running this Winter Appeal from December 2022 to February 2023 to meet current funding needs for our essential core services over the winter months and to help establish a stable financial platform that we can build on to fulfil our vision over the longer term.
What will your donation fund?
A £10 donation will feed a guest for a whole week
Make that £20 and we can add a shower, clothes and more ...
Please give generously. Every donation will go directly towards providing practical support for our guests, and will help to make somebodys life that little bit better!
