Story
We support many parents who are not eligible for financial support in the country where they are living because they are a foreigner. At GlobalARRK we do our best to signpost them to places locally where they can access support however many times we hit a brick wall because they are simply not eligible as a foreigner. This Christmas we want to give these parents who have disappeared through the cracks a gift to help them pay for essentials.
Sian's Story:
Sian* is one of many stuck parents who are trapped overseas in a cycle of poverty, abuse and desperation.
Sian and her 9 year old daughter are stuck in a country where she is unable to speak the language, severely impairing her ability to find work in her remote town. She is on a temporary visa which prohibits governmental welfare support and facing her electric and water supplies being turned off as she can no longer pay her bills.
Recently Sian hasnt been able to buy enough food for herself or her daughter. She has reached out to numerous food banks and charities but is either told they cant help or she doesnt hear back.
Sian has been told if her apartment loses its power and water supply, local social services will remove her child and place her in care or with her abusive ex-partner.
Sian would be just one of the stuck parents we would help with the hardship grant. To Sian it would make a huge difference and enable her to stay with her daughter in the apartment over Christmas.
*this is a real situation happening right now but names have been changed to protect identities
We will offer each family in need up to £200 as a one off payment before Christmas this year. If we raise £2,000 we can help 10 families. Unlike other charities we will not deduct anything for admin. Every penny will go to the family in need this Christmas.
Please give generously.
