Story

Money raised from our A2 Charities Weekend (1 & 2 March) will be distributed between our three chosen charities. We believe this will help us support charities both in the UK as well as abroad, allowing us to build relationships with new charities, and to maintain ties with charities we have worked with in the past.

Our chosen charities have strong links to the Bryanston community, meaning your generous donations will be used in beneficial ways by each of the following charities:

Great Ormond Street Hospital: Our chosen local charity is Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). This is a charity which is dedicated to helping cure children suffering with illnesses, and changing their lives forever, through treatments these children may otherwise never receive. Additionally to treating the children, GOSH connects their hospitals across the country to scientists and researchers, allowing them to continuously improve their techniques and practices, and helping more children in need as a result.

DBA Africa: Our chosen charity abroad is DBA Africa, which is a social enterprise focused on youth sport academies, coaching development, sports events, and youth sports tours. DBA Africa invests in the long-term future of sport in Africa. Through grassroots projects that teach important health lessons, they strengthen communities, nurture future leaders, and help girls aspire to better lives. At Bryanston, we have seen the benefits of DBA Africa’s work firsthand. Through their scouting initiatives, they have identified talented young sports players who have had the opportunity to join Bryanston in recent years. This has enriched our sports program significantly and provided invaluable insights into the challenges many face just to access the opportunity to play sport.

Child Action Lanka: This year, we’ve also decided to continue working with Child Action Lanka (CAL), allowing our relationship with them to continue to grow. This is a charity which is closely linked to various organisations in Sri Lanka providing after-school care for children in need. With their seven centres distributed across Sri Lanka, the charity works closely with vulnerable families and their children, providing food, care and education. Through our A2 Charities weekend, we hope to support their plans to extend to new parts of the country so that even more orphans, homeless people, and victims of war can get the help they require.

We would encourage you to find out more about our charities and how your donations will be used to make real differences across the world.

Bryanston is continuing its commitment to Child Action Lanka (CAL), a charity based in Sri Lanka providing after-school care to children in need. Across the country, the charity uses its seven centres to provide food, care and education to vulnerable families and their children. Over the A2 Charities Weekend, we’re hoping to raise the funds needed to enable CAL to construct new centres across the country. Additionally, we are supporting the Ayati Trust, a charity which helps Sri Lankans with disabilities achieve their upmost potential. Through our fundraising, Bryanston will be able to make a real difference this March in supporting the 1 in 5 Sri Lankans affected by disabilities.

In continuation of our support last term for Child of Hope, a collaborate show called ‘My Voice My Story’ will take place on Sunday 2nd March (all parents are invited), through which we hope to raise additional funds for the charity.
