The Story of the Trip
The Kinja Valley trip with Adventure Aid Nepal in November 2025 was an unforgettable experience — from the moment we arrived, the connection between our group and the children was immediate and genuine. Time in the classrooms wasn’t just about handing over supplies; it was about listening, sharing stories, laughing together, and understanding daily realities.
We spent meaningful time with teachers at each school, talking openly about what works, what’s missing, and what would help most going forward. Those conversations directly shaped our next steps.
Alongside education, we expanded our support to health and hygiene. This year we introduced girls’ hygiene materials and ran dental hygiene talks (not clinics) at the schools we visited. Every child received dental hygiene products, which were enthusiastically welcomed. After descending to Junbesi, we also spent a day with the monks at the monastery, sharing time together and providing dental hygiene kits there too.
Sustainability was woven into the journey. A tree-planting day offered a powerful insight into the work of Nepal Evergreen, and it was inspiring to see local farmers and long-term environmental action working hand in hand.
The adventure culminated with every member of the group reaching the summit of Pikey Peak on a very windy morning, rewarded with superb views of Mount Everest. We all descended safely, tired, smiling, and proud — a fitting end to a remarkable journey.
Fundraising Results & Immediate Impact
The trip was a fundraising success too. While on the ground, donations continued to trickle in, and overall we almost reached our £10,000 target. Thanks to this generosity, we were able to purchase everything needed for seven schools, visiting three of them in person during the trip.
Since returning, we now have a further £1,000 ready to spend, allowing us to respond quickly to what teachers told us they need next.
What Teachers Asked For — and Our Plan
From our conversations, a clear and practical set of priorities emerged:
💻 Completing the Computer Rollout
In a previous phase, we delivered two computers, a printer, and internet access to eight schools. However, two to three schools did not receive this support. Teachers were unanimous that basic IT access is now essential, so we aim to complete the rollout and ensure no school is left behind.
🎒 Making Sure No Child Misses Out
Some children missed earlier distributions of rucksacks and learning aids. We now have an updated list from the schools to ensure full and fair coverage.
🚿 Fixing Washing Facilities
Uma Kunda Scool have asked for help repairing or replacing outdoor washing facilities, which are currently leaking and in poor condition. Improving these facilities is vital for health, hygiene, and dignity.
Our Next Goal: £3,000
To deliver all of the above, we are launching a Christmas and New Year fundraising campaign to raise an additional £3,000, on top of funds already secured.
If successful, we plan to deliver computers, learning materials, rucksacks, and washing-facility improvements in early January, giving schools a strong and positive start to the new year.
