Story

With generous and transformative support from Eddie Van Halen over the years and now continuing through his son Wolfgang, The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation is pleased to announce that the Van Halen Family has committed to kickstarting the Adopt A School campaign with a generous $1,000 donation towards each of the first 100 participating schools.

The College Park Middle School band and orchestra programs need your help! Flutes, alto saxophones, clarinets, violas, and violins are needed to replace aged instruments that are beyond repair, reduce sharing, and allow additional students to participate in the programs.

"The College Park Middle School Band and Orchestra Program is a dynamic program in Orlando, Florida. As a Title 1 school with so much to offer our students, there is a great need of support in order to fully participate in the arts. We strive to demonstrate acts of Loving. Learning. Leading. especially through our music as well as seeing others model them. Many of our students use a school instrument, and we do not have enough working instruments for our current student enrollment. We expect to provide all current students and those that we expect to gain in the future with a one to one instrument experience while in the College Park Band & Orchestra. This means many CPMS students will benefit and will work harder to Strive for Success in musicianship, scholarship, and citizenship in the band and orchestra. Students have made great strides and this will further push their threshold of excellence. Your donation helps us continue to make a positive experience for our students and community by providing a way- where opportunity meets accessibility as to create an equitable instrumental music education to each student that comes through our doors.

Come along this journey with us. Adopt our school. Bulldog students at College Park Middle School of Orlando, Florida appreciate your donation." - Ms. Green, Instrumental Director (Band & Orchestra)

Schools participating in the Adopt A School campaign are qualified through MHOF’s vetting and eligibility process, giving donors confidence that their investment is protected and sustainable, impacting students for a minimum of 10 years (the lifespan of an instrument in a school setting.) Donations made to this school’s fundraising campaign go directly to The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation (MHOF). MHOF then purchases the specific instruments the school is in need of at a substantially discounted price and the instruments deliver directly to the school.

Donate today and help these students foster their love of music!
