Story
Hollydale School's music programs need your help! The school is in need of violins, trombones, saxophones, clarinets, flutes, snare drums, bells, egg shakers, tambourines, bucket drums, and guitars to replace aged instruments that are beyond repair, reduce sharing, and allow additional students to participate.
Greetings Adopt A School Community! I am Claudia Zuniga , the music director of Hollydale School in South Gate, California.We currently have 120 students enrolled in our Hollydale music programs, which consist of our string orchestra, concert band, and mariachi. One of the priorities in our program is to be able to provide exposure to experiences that our students might not otherwise receive outside of school. Attending the Walt Disney hall has been a yearly tradition for the past four years. That, along with participating in off campus performances and music festivals, has created life altering memories for our students. Word of mouth is wonderful, and more students have shown interest in participating in our music program. We are in need of high-quality instruments and equipment. Hollydale school is very appreciative of your support!
With generous and transformative support from Eddie Van Halen over the years and now continuing through his son Wolfgang, The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation is pleased to announce that the Van Halen Family has committed to kickstarting the Adopt A School campaign with a generous $1,000 donation towards each of the first 100 participating schools.
Schools participating in the Adopt A School campaign are qualified through MHOF’s vetting and eligibility process, giving donors confidence that their investment is protected and sustainable, impacting students for a minimum of 10 years (the lifespan of an instrument in a school setting.) Donations made to this school’s fundraising campaign go directly to The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation (MHOF). MHOF then purchases the specific instruments the school is in need of at a substantially discounted price and the instruments deliver directly to the school.
