The John Marshall High School band needs your support!
"Our band program is about more than just learning music—it’s about building community, teaching life skills, and creating unforgettable experiences. Each rehearsal, performance, and competition is an opportunity for our students to grow together, both as musicians and individuals. One of our students came into the program shy and unsure of herself, but through the support of her bandmates and the challenges we faced as a team, she found her confidence not only in her musical abilities but also in her leadership. By senior year, she was drum major, leading the band with pride and passion, an inspiration to all who saw her transformation." -Luis Ewing, Band and Guitar Director
"We have talented musicians who often share instruments, making it hard for them to practice or play to their full potential. Additional funds would allow us to replace aging equipment and provide every student the resources they need to excel." -Luis Ewing, Band and Guitar Director
New trumpets, clarinets, trombones, flutes, and a vibraphone will make a massive impact on the program and reduce instrument sharing, allow additional students to participate, and replace aged instruments.
"Our marching band is a cornerstone of the community. Whether we are performing at football games, in local parades, or at regional competitions, our students are ambassadors of school spirit and unity. Last year, after months of hard work, we placed in the top three at a regional marching competition for the first time in our school’s history. That achievement wasn’t just about music—it was a testament to the dedication, teamwork, and perseverance of each student." -Luis Ewing, Band and Guitar Director
With generous and transformative support from Eddie Van Halen over the years and now continuing through his son Wolfgang, The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation is pleased to announce that the Van Halen Family has committed to kickstarting the Adopt A School campaign with a generous $1,000 donation towards each of the first 100 participating schools.
Schools participating in the Adopt A School campaign are qualified through MHOF’s vetting and eligibility process, giving donors confidence that their investment is protected and sustainable, impacting students for a minimum of 10 years (the lifespan of an instrument in a school setting.) Donations made to this school’s fundraising campaign go directly to The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation (MHOF). MHOF then purchases the specific instruments the school is in need of at a substantially discounted price and the instruments deliver directly to the school.
Donate today and help these students foster their love of music, every dollar counts!
