A Bed Before Christmas
Help us make sure nobody has to face a freezing night on the streets of Wigan and Leigh this Christmas.
This winter, Greater Manchester has made a commitment to help people sleeping rough find a route off the streets before Christmas.
Here in Wigan and Leigh, we want to play our part.
So this Christmas, The Brick is creating something new.
We have 10 weeks to transform underused space at The Brick Works into a 16-bed emergency night shelter, giving people somewhere safe, warm and welcoming to come inside during the coldest nights of the year.
And our local business community has already stepped up.
Businesses from across Wigan and Leigh are helping us cover the cost of the building work needed to get the space ready.
Now we need your help to turn a refurbished room into a place of safety.
Because a bed is only the beginning.
Your donation could help us provide:
• warm beds, bedding and furniture
• hot meals, breakfasts and drinks
• toiletries, towels and clean clothing
• travel costs and practical essentials
• ID and documents that can help someone access housing and support
• additional staffing and support during the winter
• the small things that help somebody feel human again after a night or many nights - on the streets.
For someone sleeping outside in December, coming through our doors could quite literally save their life.
But we want A Bed Before Christmas to be about more than surviving the night.
When someone comes inside, our team can sit with them, understand what has happened, connect them with housing, health and other support and start working towards something much more important:
a future where they don't have to return to the street.
This is a challenge that sits right here in our community - and the solution can sit here too.
The building is ours. Local businesses are helping us transform it. Our staff and partners will be there to support people.
We just need our community to help us fill it with everything people need to be safe, warm and cared for.
Whether you can give £5, £20, £100 or more, you will be helping us open those doors this winter.
This Christmas, while most of us are heading home, putting the heating on and closing the door against the cold, there will still be people wondering where they are going to sleep that night.
Together, we can change that.
Please help us give someone A Bed Before Christmas.
